Save the Date: AAPI Celebration May 18

Presented by the Los Angeles Public Library, Zochada Tat is the featured speaker in a discussion about the strengths, challenges and responsibilities of second and third generation descendants of survivors of the Cambodian genocide. The talk will focus on self-care, storytelling, and healing in honor of Asian-American Pacific Islander Month. This AAPI Joy: Wellness, Healing, Resilience and Resistance event will take place at the LAPL Central Library, Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, May 18th, 2024.
Zochada Tat,Oum Ry’s daughter, is legendary Cambodian kickboxer, instructor, and author. She traveled with him to Cambodia in February 2022 and helped transcribe and translate his oral history, I Am Oum Ry, published by DoppelHouse to great acclaim and effect, especially in the large and vibrant Cambodian community in nearby Long Beach, California, where Oum Ry is considered a community leader and respected elder passing on traditions to the next generations.
